OTTAWA _ Wi-LAN Inc. (TSX: T.WIN, Stock Forum) has announced settlement deals with two well-known American companies, the latest in a recent spate of such agreements.

In its latest announcement Tuesday, the Ottawa-based patent-licensing firm said settlements had been reached with both Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE: HPQ, Stock Forum) and Novatel Wireless Inc. (NASDAQ: NVTL, Stock Forum).

The deals end litigation with both California-based companies.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Last week, Wi-LAN Inc. announced a settlement deal with Sierra Wireless Inc. (TSX: T.SW, Stock Forum), a day after disclosing a deal with BlackBerry (TSX: T.BB, Stock Forum).

Wi-LAN, founded in 1992, has licensed its intellectual property to more than 270 companies worldwide that manufacture or sell a wide range of communication and consumer electronics products.
