LONGUEUIL, Que. - Canadian aerospace player Heroux-Devtek Inc. (
TSX:T.HRX, Stock Forum) is temporarily laying off 40 people near Montreal due to a slowdown in repair and overhaul work from the U.S. air force.
The Canadian company says it has been affected by reduced U.S. military spending and the partial U.S. government shutdown in early October, with a ” significant slowdown in landing gear repair and overhaul activities.”
Heroux-Devtek is a leading maker of aircraft landing gear and does repair and overhaul work for the USAF at its base in Longueuil, Que., south of Montreal.
In September, the company announced an
$80m per year supply deal with Boeing.
