Traders are navigating one of the busiest weeks of corporate earnings season. Canada’s main stock index moved higher on Tuesday, supported by consumer and tech stock gains. On the flipside, the energy and mining markets moved lower.
After recovering from the selloff in March, US markets also closed upward as Treasury yields hit new highs on expectations of serious interest rate hikes, while investors awaited more earnings reports to assess the impact of inflation and the Ukraine war on company profits.

The Canadian dollar traded for 79.29 cents US compared to 79.31 cents US on Monday.
Crude oil prices were down 5.84 to $102.40.
The price of gold was down 32.25 to $1,945.28.
In world markets, the Nikkei was up 185.38 points to 26,985.09, the Hang Seng was down 490.32 points to 21,027.76, the FTSE was down 2.92 points to 7,613.46and the DAX was down 10.39 points to 14,153.46.
