Bird Construction Inc. (TSX:BDT) has been awarded new contracts to help grow its portfolio of projects in Ontario.
The Mississauga-based company received a construction management contract for the Seneca Polytechnic Health and Wellness Centre Project and a new multi-year task order for the Port Hope Area Initiative master construction contract by Canadian Nuclear Laboratories.
The value of the awards exceeds C$130 million.
The Seneca Health and Wellness Centre will be a multi-storey health and wellness complex to support their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness. The team is working to incorporate many green practices, including mass timber, rainwater harvesting, solar energy, geothermal energy, renewable building materials, green roofing and operational sustainability.
The task order by Canadian Nuclear Laboratories expands Bird’s responsibilities on approximately 400 sites in the municipality of Port Hope. The company will be responsible for the engineering, design, procurement, and remediation and restoration activities for the sites where it has been performing remediation activities since late last year.
There remains a significant pipeline of work under the overarching master construction contract announced last year, which gives Bird the opportunity to bid on more than $1 billion in environmental remediation work.
“From kicking off our collaborative approach with Seneca to deepening our roots in Port Hope, we strive to foster impactful community relationships and uphold our commitment to a strong client focus,” Bird’s president and CEO, Teri McKibbon, said in a news release. “Securing these awards advances our strategy to build consistent, multi-year revenue streams and to make lasting impacts on post-secondary education while actively contributing to a more sustainable future.”
Bird Construction Inc. is a construction company that focuses primarily on projects in the industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors of the general contracting industry.
Bird Construction Inc. last traded at C$11.79 per share. In the past year, Bird stock has risen 60.6 per cent.
