Stock Forum) rose 10.6% to 52 cents on Friday after the renewable energy company announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Marco A. Northland, will present to investors and shareholders at a town hall meeting in Stockholm, Sweden on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, to provide an update following recent developments on its solar pipeline in Chile.
Taipan Resources Inc. (
TSX: V.TPN,
Stock Forum) climbed 1.3% to 38.5 cents as investors assessed the appointment of Paul Logan as Exploration Manager. Logan has over 36 years of experience in exploration and was previously Chief Geologist at
Heritage Oil Plc, an international exploration and production company, where he was part of the team that discovered approximately 1.75 billion barrels of oil in Uganda on Blocks 1 and Block 3A in the Albert Basin of Uganda, and over 9.0 trillion cubic feet of natural gas at the Miran Gas Field in Kurdistan.
Peregrine Diamonds Ltd. (
TSX: T.PGD,
Stock Forum) was down 34.6% to 42.5 cents. The stock is reacting to news that De Beers, a diamond mining company, will not exercise its right to enter into an earn-in and joint venture agreement with Peregrine on the Chidliak diamond project, located in Nunavut, Canada. More detailed information on the De Beers decision and the company's plans for Chidliak will be provided as it becomes available.
American Bonanza Gold Corp. (
TSX: T.BZA,
Stock Forum) lost 55.6% to two cents after the exploration company reported it is placing the Copperstone Mine in Arizona on care and maintenance status until further notice. The company has made this decision in order to cut costs while it reviews operations with a view to improving operational efficiencies, and while it seeks additional capital to fund performance improvements in order to meet designed capacity of the Copperstone Mine. Declining gold prices also factored in the company's decision to suspend mining and milling operations at this time.
