Stockhouse Canadian Small and Micro-cap Stock Report for Tuesday, February 18, 2014 VANCOUVER (SHfn) –

ZoomMed Inc. (TSX-V:ZMD, StockForum) announced it had signed an agreement with Desjardins Insruance for the development and operation of a web-based solution to combine specific insurance plan information into the ZRx Prescriber, making it available to physician users while they are using their PC, tablet or smartphone to write their prescriptions. Shares climbed 60% on the news to $0.04 per share. Currently there are 135.6 m outstanding shares with a market cap of $5.4 million.

Verde Potash (TSX:NPK, StockForum) announced today that the company had been selected by the Brazilian government to secure financing from the government’s special financing program, Inova Agro in order to obtain financing for its Cerrado Verde Potash Project. Now that Verde has been accepted into the program, it can be considered for subsidized interest rates, equity investment and non-reimbursable project investment grants from the Brazilian Development Bank. Shares rose 57.14% on the news to $0.32 per share. Currently there are 37.5m outstanding shares with a market cap of $32.6 million.

Chaparral Gold Corp. (TSX:CHL, StockForum) was the subject of a hostile take over bid by Waterton Precious Metals Fund II Cayman to purchase all issued and outstanding shares in Chaparral not already held by it or its affiliates for $0.50 per share. Currently, Waterton ons 3.4 million Chaparral shares, representing 2.9% of the issued and outstanding shares of Chaparral. Chaparral executives responded later in the day to the offer by telling shareholders to do nothing until the company could prepare to defend itself against the unsolicited bid.
