Rubicon Minerals (TSX: RMX, Forum) soared on the boards today based on no news. The last news the company published was near the end of February when the company announced filing a technical report for the Phoenix Gold Project located in Red Lake, Ontario.

According to the news release, the company stated that besides desktop studies, it did not have any intentions of proceeding with the report-recommended exploration program in the immediate future as it would require the company to secure additional funding. Traders speculated the run may be attributed to good news coming down the pike, while others suggested it was a manipulated run up prior to a PP offering. Shares were up 85.71% to $0.13 per share.

GeneNews (TSX: GEN, Forum) slipped a little in the markets today as the buying craze levelled off. Shares began being snapped up less than a week ago when the company announced that it had acquired full control of Innovative Diagnostic Laboratory by entering into a unit purchase agreement with Cobalt Healthcare Consultants for its 50% ownership in Innovative.

According to the news release, GeneNews will assume any and all of Cobalt’s liability regarding Cobalt’s US$1.0 Secured Demand Promissory Note payable to form IDL partner, HDL USA Holdings. No other consideration will be paid. Shares were down 38.46% to $0.12 per share.
