Stockhouse Canadian Small and Micro-cap Stock Report for Monday, January 19, 2008

TORONTO (SHfn) - Gold assays were good news for some shareholders Monday, while others flocked to a small zinc/silver play.

Osisko Mining (TSX: T.OSK, Stock Forum) shares climbed 8% to $3.50 after the miner reported new results from the definition drill program currently under way at South Barnat, a separate gold mineralized zone located northeast of the Canadian Malartic deposit in Quebec, which included 2.00 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 182.4 metres.

As well, shares of Arctic Star Diamond (TSX: V.ADD, Stock Forum) surged as much as 17% before ending unchanged at three cents as the micro cap explorer, Metalex Ventures (TSX: V.MT, Stock Forum), and White Pine Resources (TSX: V.WPR, Stock Forum) announced that its Joint Venture Project along the Ring of Fire has encountered additional Volcanic Derived Sulphides (VDS) mineralization on its 5.01 discovery near James Bay, Ontario, which included 4.4 meters of 19.32% zinc and 63.1 g/t silver.

SFK Pulp (TSX: T.SFK.UN, Stock Forum), meanwhile, said it is suspending its monthly cash distributions and does not intend to reinstate them until market conditions substantially improve. SFK Pulp units sank 32% to 49 cents.

Shares of Petro Vista Energy (TSX: V.PTV, Stock Forum) jumped 18% to 29.5 cents after the independent oil and gas explorer/producer announced that its wholly-owned Colombian subsidiary, Petropuli Ltda., has signed a farm-out agreement with Omega Energy Colombia and Green Power Corporation, two private oil and gas exploration companies based in Colombia. The estimated total value of the farm-out to Petro Vista is US$4.4 million.

And, Cymat Technologies (TSX: T.CYM, Stock Forum) Monday said its products and process were presented in the recent episode of the Discovery Channel's "HowStuffWorks" show, a documentary television series that premiered on the station in November 2008. It shares powered 21% higher to 11.5 cents.
