Shares of Energy Fuels (TSX: T.EFR, Stock Forum) moved 9% higher to 36 cents Friday, as Stockhouse posters weighed in on ongoing hearings in Colorado regarding the company’s proposed uranium mill.

Energy Fuels, a Toronto-based uranium and vanadium mineral development company, announced last month that it had completed a major step on the path to permitting the Pinon Ridge Uranium mill in Montrose County, Colorado, as the county’s planning commission passed a resolution recommending approval of the company's special use permit by the board of county commissioners.

In early July, Energy Fuels said it anticipated that the permit will come before the board within four to six weeks, for their consideration.

Once the company obtains both the special use permit and the CDPHE mill license, it will be able to build and operate the Pinon Ridge uranium mill.

On Thursday night, Stockhouse member spiker53 posted some news from the Montrose Daily Press in Colorado, which discussed the imminent commissioners’ first public hearing on Thursday. According to the article, county commissioners expected “lots of comment, but no immediate decision” during yesterday’s hearing on the uranium mill proposal.

“Building and operating the uranium- and vanadium-processing mill will require state licensing and approval — a separate process in which Energy Fuels will have to satisfy numerous requirements and regulations,” noted the article.

On the company’s Bullboard late Thursday afternoon, thamnosma said: “I believe the meeting today is just for public comments, not voting up or down on the mill. Hence, this is not "it"[sic]”

Later Thursday, outfitter replied: “You are correct thamnosma in your belief that tonights meeting is to here more public comment on the proposed mill, as I read that same information. As a further note on the matter, there is a second meeting tentatively set in Montrose for the same purpose on Sept. 9”…
