TORONTO (SHfn) – A gold vein sparked excitement from more than a few speculators Tuesday, while uranium results also generated some interest.

As well, shares of CanAlaska Uranium (TSX: V.CVV, Stock Forum) moved up 50% to 22.5 cents as the junior explorer reported assay results from its August 2009, drill program at the Fond Du Lac Project in the Athabasca Basin, which included 40.4 metres averaging 0.32% U(3)O(8), including six metres averaging 1.13% U(3)O(8) (22.6 lb/ton).

Meanwhile, ERA Carbon Offsets (TSX: V.ESR, Stock Forum), through its wholly owned subsidiary, ERA Ecosystem Restoration Associates (ERA), announced that it has received Ministerial consent to proceed with the project design of an agroforestry/afforestation/reforestation project in Burundi. ERA will develop a project design document that addresses a range of considerations for implementing a forest-based carbon offset project within and adjacent to the Kibira National Park, including the transfer of carbon rights. ERA stock popped 28% to 65 cents.

Shares of Sirona Biochem (TSX: V.SBM, Stock Forum) surged 39% to 12.5 cents after the emerging biotech firm focused on diabetes and obesity reported that it is accelerating its drug development program following a visit to its French partner TFChem's new lab.
