Stockhouse Canadian Small and Micro-cap Stock Report for Thursday, July 29, 2010

TORONTO (SHfn) – Ventana Gold (TSX: T.VEN, Stock Forum) shares powered 14% higher to $7.89 on Thursday after the miner reported drill results from 17 additional holes at the La Bodega gold project in Colombia, which included 6.0 metres of 42.3 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 45.6 g/t silver.

As well, shares of Thundermin Resources (TSX: T.THR, Stock Forum) gained 15% to 11.5 cents as the micro cap explorer and 50% joint venture partner Cornerstone Resources (TSX: V.CGP , Stock Forum) announced that they have intersected 2.3% copper over a core length of 18.0 metres, including 4.2% copper over 5.5 metres, approximately 992 metres below surface on the Little Deer Copper Deposit in Newfoundland.

First Uranium (TSX: T.FIU, Stock Forum), meanwhile, reported that during the three months ended June 30, 2010, 14,120 ounces of gold were produced from the Ezulwini Mine and 20,215 ounces of gold from the Mine Waste Solutions tailings recovery project in South Africa. The Ezulwini Mine also produced 19,764 pounds of uranium in the form of ammonium diuranate (yellowcake). First Uranium stock popped 12% to $1.05.

Shares of Baja Mining (TSX: T.BAJ, Stock Forum) surged 17% to 88 cents after the junior miner announced that its 70% owned project company, Minera y Metalurgica del Boleo S.A. de C.V., has received all necessary credit approvals from the Export-Import Bank of the United States and Korea Development Bank to provide US$573 million in senior and subordinated project financing for the construction of the Boleo copper-cobalt-zinc-manganese Project in Mexico.

And, Pareto Corporation (TSX: T.PTO, Stock Forum) Thursday said it has signed a five-year contract to provide a range of in-store marketing and promotional services to a major Canadian retailer. The contract is expected to generate approximately $14 million in revenue annually for Pareto beginning in the fourth quarter of 2010. Its shares climbed 12% to $1.55.
