TORONTO (SHfn) – Argex Mining Inc. (TSX: V.RGX, Stock Forum) gained 24% to 67 cents on Thursday after announcing the results of metallurgical test work, which reported the production of high purity 99.8% titanium dioxide from ore recovered from its 100%-owned La Blanche deposit near Baie-Comeau, Que. The company is hoping to advance the project towards production.

Stem Cell Therapeutics Corp. (TSX: V.SSS, Stock Forum) was also up 17% to 13.5 cents. The biotechnology company is focused on the development of drug based therapies for the treatment of nervous system diseases. The stock rose after the company said it has been granted a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office relating to Prolactin. The claims within the issued patent cover methods of using Prolactin to increase stem cell numbers in mammals suspected of having neurological diseases.

Williams Creek Explorations Ltd. (TSX: V.WCX, Stock Forum) rose 13% to 35 cents after the junior said the 2011 exploration program is about to begin on the ATW diamond property at Mackay Lake, Northwest Territories. Williams Creek is working in partnership with Almaden Minerals Ltd. (TSX: T.AMM, Stock Forum). Based on the results of winter 2011 explorationh, targets will be chosen for diamond drill testing during the winter of 2012.

Ring of Fire Resources Inc. (TSX: V.ROF, Stock Forum) jumped 12% to 9.5 cents after being advised by its joint venture partner MacDonald Mines Exploration Ltd. (TSX: V.BMK, Stock Forum) that drilling will resume next week on the Butler property in the James Bay area of northern Ontario. Planned work on the Nickel target is part of a much larger drill program undertaken by MacDonald Mines.
