Stockhouse Canadian Small and Micro-cap Stock Report for Tuesday, August 16, 2011
TORONTO (SHfn) – Critical Elements (TSX: V.CRE, Stock Forum) shares jumped 13% to 21.5 cents after the micro cap explorer reported the last results of the metallurgical testing program for its Rose deposit in Quebec. The final flotation results obtained were a recovery of 90.7% for lithium at a grade of 5.87% Li(2)O and 84.8% for tantalum at a grade of 1016 ppm Ta(2)O(5), without recycling. Recycling to be tested later may improve results further.
As well, shares of Tonbridge Power (TSX: V.TBZ, Stock Forum) moved up 108% to 52 cents as the developer of electrical transmission assets said it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Enbridge (TSX: T.ENB, Stock Forum) through a plan of arrangement for 54 cents a share in cash.
Critical Outcome Technologies (TSX: V.COT, Stock Forum), meanwhile, announced results of recent experiments, demonstrating clear evidence of COTI-2's ability to significantly inhibit the growth of cancer cells that over express Akt/Akt2, confirming it as a promising targeted therapy candidate. COTI-2 is the first drug developed using the company's proprietary artificial intelligence system, CHEMSAS. Critical Outcome Technologies stock popped 17% to 35 cents.
And, High Desert Gold (TSX: V.HDG, Stock Forum) Tuesday reported results from the recently completed reverse-circulation drill program on the Gold Springs project at which the company, together with its 40% partner Pilot Gold Inc., has a 27 sq. km land position in Lincoln County, Nevada and Iron County, Utah. Intercepts included 15 metres of 2.23 grams per tonne (g/t) gold equivalent. High Desert Gold shares added as much as 24% before closing down 5% to 31.5 cents.
