Stockhouse Canadian Small and Micro-cap Stock Report for Thursday, September 1, 2011
TORONTO (SHfn) – Strike Gold (TSX: V.SRK, Stock Forum) shares powered 58% higher to 38 cents on Thursday after the micro cap explorer announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire a 100% interest in the Deep Bay East and Simon Lake Graphite Properties in Saskatchewan.
As well, shares of Animas Resources (TSX: V.ANI, Stock Forum) rose 42% to 27 cent as the junior miner said it plans to begin an aggressive exploration/pre-feasibility program at the Santa Gertrudis gold project in Mexico. This program will be financed by a $3.4 private placement at 20 cents per unit. Mr. Ernesto Echavarria will be the sole purchaser of the units and will become a 39.1% shareholder of Animas.
Belo Sun Mining (TSX: V.BSX, Stock Forum), meanwhile, reported assay results for 22 additional drill holes from the diamond drilling program at its Volta Grande Gold Project in Brazil, which included 30.75 meters grading 11.14 grams per tonne (g/t) gold. Belo Sun stock popped 12% to $1.35.
And, Creso Exploration (TSX: V.CXT, Stock Forum) Thursday announced the acquisition of an option to purchase the Mann silver mine located in Milner Township in northern Ontario. Creso shares added 7% at 14.5 cents.
