Glencore’s bid is worth $5.5 billion, says a report by Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper.

As Stockhouse reported on Friday, Calgary-based Viterra (TSX: T.VT, Stock Forum) responded to market activity last week by acknowledging that it has received expressions of interest. But it also said it could offer no assurance that any agreement or transaction will result.

In early trading Monday, Viterra shares rose 3% to $13.97, following Friday’s 24% rise. At current levels, Viterra has a market cap of $5.2 billion, based on 371.7 million shares outstanding. The 52-week range is $14.10 and $9.30
