Loblaw soars on REIT news: Canadian market movers

On Thursday, the top TSX mover was Uranium One Inc. (TSX: T.UUU, Stock Forum). The stock was unchanged and was trading at $1.89 on volume of 15.9 million. On Dec 5, the uranium mining company said production had increased 23% to 3.1 million pounds in the third quarter.

Loblaw Companies Ltd. (TSX: T.L, Stock Forum) was the second most active stock on the TSX. It rose 16.73% and was trading at $39.22 on volume of 8 million shares. The food retailer said it intended to create a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) to acquire a significant portion of Loblaw's real estate assets and to sell units of the REIT by way of an initial public offering.

Blue Note Mining Inc. (TSX: V.BNT, Stock Forum) was the volume leader on the TSX Venture Exchange. It was unchanged and was trading at $0.01 on volume of 2.9 million. The mineral exploration and mining company had no related news to explain the high volume in trading.

The second most active stock on the TSX Venture was Pinecrest Energy (TSX: V.PRY, Stock Forum). It was up 2.5% and was trading at $1.64 after 2.6 million shares changed hands. On Nov. 27, the petroleum and natural gas company filed its three and nine month financial statements on SEDAR.
