Fire River Gold soars 16% on drill results: Canadian market movers

On Tuesday, the top TSX mover was Uranium One Inc. (TSX: T.UUU, Stock Forum). The stock rose 6.22% and was trading at $2.39 on volume of 5.7 million. On Nov. 29, the uranium producer released a report that said long-term demand for uranium was rising on China’s and India’s nuclear expansion plans.

Research In Motion Ltd. (TSX: T.RIM, Stock Forum) was the second most active stock on the TSX. It fell 0.34% and was trading at $11.72 on volume of 3.4 million shares. On Jan. 3, 2013, T-Mobile USA, Inc. and the technology company announced the most affordable BlackBerry® smartphone on T-Mobile's nationwide network - the BlackBerry® Curve 9315.

Intertainment Media Inc. (TSX: V.INT, Stock Forum) was the volume leader on the TSX Venture Exchange. It was down 2.78% and was trading at $0.175 on volume of 3.3 million. On Jan. 3, the technology company said its subsidiary, Ortsbo, launched its first localized business agreement effectively creating a partnership in The People's Republic of China.

The second most active stock on the TSX Venture was Fire River Gold Corp. (TSX: V.FAU, Stock Forum). It jumped 16.67% and was trading at $0.070 after 2.8 million shares changed hands. The junior miner announced results of an underground drill program at its wholly-owned Nixon Fork project in Alaska. The highlight was 3.34 metres grading 219.1 grams per tonne gold.
