Bombardier active on award news: Canadian market movers

On Wednesday, the top TSX mover was B2Gold Corp. (TSX: T.BTO, Stock Forum). It gained 0.63% and was trading at $3.19 on volume of 11 million shares.

The gold producer had no related news to explain the high volume in trading.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX: T.BBD.B, Stock Forum) was the second most active stock on the TSX. The stock was up 2% and trading at $4.09 on volume of 5.2 million.

The transportation equipment manufacturer said Flexjet, a division of Bombardier and the world's second largest fractional jet ownership provider, received the coveted Diamond Award of Excellence from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Derek Oil & Gas Corp. (TSX: V.DRK, Stock Forum) was the volume leader on the TSX Venture Exchange. It soared 200% and was trading at $0.03 on volume of 2.5 million.

The oil and gas junior had no related news to explain the high volume in trading.

The second most active stock on the TSX Venture was Samaranta Mining Corp.(TSX: V.SAX, Stock Forum) It lost 20% and was trading at $0.02 after 1.3 million shares changed hands.

On Feb. 25, the exploration and development company said that there is and never was a formal takeover bid tabled by Samarium Group.

Further, the non-binding proposal that had been press released Feb. 19, 2013 by Samarium Group Holding Ltd. was subsequently withdrawn on Feb. 22.
