Junior up 26% on joint venture agreement

Stockhouse Canadian Small and Micro-cap Stock Report for Tuesday, March 12, 2013 TORONTO (SHfn) – Labrador Iron Mines Holdings Ltd. (TSX: T.LIM, Stock Forum) jumped 26% to 82 cents on Tuesday after the company said it has entered into a framework deal with Tata Steel Minerals Canada, a subsidiary of Tata Steel Ltd., to establish a strategic relationship between LIM and TSMC whereby the two companies have agreed to co-operate with each other in various aspects of their respective iron ore operations in the Labrador Trough and enter into definitive agreements to formalize this arrangement in due course.

Darwin Resources Corp. (TSX: V.DAR, Stock Forum) climbed 11.5% to 14.5 cents as investors assessed the news that Darwin has secured environmental permits for 12 drilling platforms at its La Puerta area, Suriloma gold project in Peru. “The approval of the DIA [Declaration of Environmental Impact] is a key step towards commencing the company’s maiden drill program at La Puerta,’’ said President and CEO Graham Carman.

North American Nickel Inc. (TSX: V.NAN, Stock Forum)was also up 3.2% to 16 cents. The stock is reacting to news that Alex Balogh, the former Chairman and CEO of Falconbridge Ltd. has joined the company’s advisory board. Balogh was also deputy Chairman of Noranda Inc. and CEO of Noranda Minerals. Inc. “The company is honoured that Alex has consented to help guide us at this exciting juncture in NAN’s history,’’ said NAN CEO Rick Mark.

Energizer Resources Inc. (TSX: T.EGZ, Stock Forum) rose 3% to 18.5 cents after the company said it has scheduled a conference call to discuss development strategies and timelines for its Molo flaked graphite deposit in southern Madagascar. Energizer is the 75% owner and operator of the project, which is located in the Green Giant Graphite project and is part of a joint venture property with Malagasy Minerals Ltd. in Madagascar.

Southern Pacific Resources Corp. (TSX: T.STP, Stock Forum), meanwhile, fell 9% to 85 cents. The company said it has executed a one-year marketing deal effective April 1, 2013 that will provide U.S. Gulf Coast pricing for its bitumen product that is being shipped under the company’s rail transportation arrangements.
