Orbite Aluminae active in mid-morning: Canadian market movers

On Monday, the top TSX mover was Orbite Aluminae Inc. (TSX: T.ORT, Stock Forum). It rose 2.4% and was trading at $1.26 on volume of 3.2 million shares.

On April 5, the alumina producer provided a video update about its corporate initiatives and global patents.

Bankers Petroluem Ltd. (TSX: T.BNK, Stock Forum) was the second most active stock on the TSX. The stock was up 0.7% and trading at $2.71 on volume of 2 million.

On April 5, the oil and gas exploration and production company said average production from the Patos-Marinza oilfield in Albania for the first quarter of 2013 was 16,916 barrels of oil per day, 4.7% higher than in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Oil sales during the quarter averaged 16,605barrels of oil per day, 3.6% higher than the previous quarter average.

Sterling Resources Ltd. (TSX: V.SLG, Stock Forum) was the volume leader on the TSX Venture Exchange. It gained 1.3% and was trading at $0.78 on volume of 10.9 million.

The international oil and gas company announced that it is initiating the refinancing of its GBP£105 millionsenior secured credit facilitythrough a proposed senior secured bond issue of up to US$225 million. Pareto Securities has been appointed as Sole Manager and Bookrunner of the Bond Issue.

The second most active stock on the TSX Venture was Northern Shield Resources Inc. (TSX: V.NRN, Stock Forum) It rallied 27.8% and was trading at $0.115 after 2.9 million shares changed hands.

On Feb. 8, the mineral exploration company said it has just completed an airborne VTEM survey over the Monsoon Property, one of the six properties that make up the Storm Claim Group in northwestern Ontario.

Preliminary results show a cluster of five conductive targets in the northern portion of the property with magnetic and electromagnetic signatures that show copper-zinc-silver VMS occurrences. The strike length of these bodies ranges from 250 to 450 metres. These targets will likely be drill tested later this year.
