Santa Maria Petroleum says operator abandons Colombia wells

Santa Maria Petroleum (TSX: V.SMQ, Stock Forum) late Tuesday announced that it has been informed by Omega Energy Colombia, the operator of the Llanos 21 block in the Llanos basin in Colombia, that it has abandoned the Calacho No. 1 and the Rocamao No. 1 wells, this according to a company news release.

The wells were part of a continuous two well drilling and testing program carried out by Omega in fulfillment of the exploration requirements on the block.

Santa Maria said it intends to terminate its remaining interest in the block, this after satisfying its financial obligations.
