Colossus falls 43% after reporting delay: Canadian market movers

Here are the most active stocks on Monday mid-morning on the TSX and TSX Venture Exchange.

On Monday, the top TSX mover was Colossus Minerals Inc. (TSX: T.CSI). It fell 43% and was trading at $0.91 on volume of 11.8 million shares.

Today, the exploration and development company said mining activity at its Serra Pelada mine, located in the State of Pará, Brazil, has been delayed due to some dewatering wells and pumps not performing to design specifications. The company now anticipates a delay in gold production from the mine until late in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Loblaw Co Ltd. (TSX: T.L) was the second most active stock on the TSX. The stock was up 8.4% and trading at $51.54 on volume of 7.7 million.

The pharmaceutical retailer said it has struck a friendly deal to purchase Shoppers Drug Mart Corp. (TSX: T.SC) for $12.4 billion in cash and stock.

TAD Mineral Exploration Inc. (TSX: V.TJ) was the volume leader on the TSX Venture Exchange. It soared 40% and was trading at $0.035 on volume of 6.6 million.

Today, the exploration and development company said it had acquired acreage prospective for hydrothermal graphite in Ontario. This new prospect, the 'Constance Lake' hydrothermal graphite prospect borders Zenyatta Ventures Ltd. (TSX: V.ZEN). Management plans to mobilize crews on this prospect shortly. This new prospect consists of 16 claims making up approximately 635 acres acquired through staking.

The second most active stock on the TSX Venture was Brookemont Capital Inc. (TSX: V.BKT) It gained 10% and was trading at $ after five million shares changed hands.

On July 12, the exploration junior announced that upon review of the Geological Survey of Canada and Ontario Department of Mines aeromagnetic airborne data, a significant geophysical magnetic low anomaly is evident on the recently acquired "Albany East" Hydrothermal Graphite prospect in Ontario. The magnetic depression (low) on the company ground similar to the magnetic depression identified in the same survey over the Zenyatta Ventures Ltd. (TSX: V.ZEN) ground. The magnetic depression outlined on the BKT claims measures over 2.6 kilometres by 1.6 kilometres using the scale on the aeromagnetics map.
