WASHINGTON, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- The government shutdown in the United States means reviews, of everything from pipelines to oil and gas exploration, have been suspended, agencies said.

Everything from the review of applications for liquefied natural gas exports to the Keystone XL pipeline were on hold because of the shutdown, which entered its fourth day, a breakdown from the Platts energy news service said.

The Environmental Protection Agency said its operations are affected by the budget stalemate.

The Nuclear Regulatory Agency said it was "prepared for all contingencies."

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, a division in the Interior Department, said most of its energy work was halted during the stalemate.

"That includes conventional energy leasing, exploration plan reviews, economic analysis, resource evaluation and all activities under the five-year offshore leasing plan," it said.
