B2Gold (T.BTO) up 7.5% on joint venture’s update: Canadian market movers

Here are the most active stocks on Thursday mid-morning on the TSX and TSX Venture Exchange.

On Thursday, the top TSX mover was Bellatrix Exploration Ltd. (TSX: T.BXE, Stock Forum). It was up 0.25% and was trading at $7.98 on volume of 3.7 million shares

On October 15, Bellatrix agreed to acquire all of the issued and outstanding common shares of Angle Energy Inc. (TSX: T.NGL, Stock Forum) and all of the issued and outstanding 5.75% convertible unsecured subordinated debentures with a maturity date of Jan. 31, 2016. The total value of the arrangement is approximately $576 million, based on the volume weighted average trading price of Bellatrix for the 10 trading days ending Oct. 11, 2013 of $8.1324 per Bellatrix share.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX: T.BTO, Stock Forum) was the second most active stock on the TSX. The stock gained 7.5% and trading at $2.43 on volume of 3.7 million.

Today, Calibre Mining Corp. (TSX: V.CXB, Stock Forum) provided an update on its gold-silver projects and gold-copper projects under joint venture with B2Gold and Alder Resources Ltd. (TSX: V.ALR, Stock Forum). Calibre's Borosi Concessions, located in the historic Mining Triangle of northeast Nicaragua, has past production exceeding eight million ounces of gold. Highlights of the update included a NI 43-101 inferred mineral resource exceeding 1.05 million ounces of gold and 8.4 million ounces of silver in the three deposits and surface rock sampling returning up to 42.46 grams per tonne gold and 2,457 grams per tonne silver. ?

ZoomMed Inc. (TSX: V.ZMD, Stock Forum) was the volume leader on the TSX Venture Exchange. It rose 16.7% and was trading at $0.07 on volume of 2.3 million.

On September 30, the medical software firm reported its 2013 annual financial results. Resulting from the efforts made since the beginning of its operations, the company recorded a profit, before proportionate share of the investee’s net results of $3.098 million for the fiscal year ended May 31, 2013 compared to a loss of $3.085 million for the fiscal year ended May 31, 2012 and a loss of $3.7 million for the fiscal year ended May 31, 2011.

The second most active stock on the TSX Venture was Renegade Petroleum Ltd. (TSX: V.RPL, Stock Forum) It climbed 3.0% and was trading at $1.04 after two million shares changed hands.

On October 15, the light-oil focused company announced the resignation of D.M. (Bud) McDonald from the Renegade board of directors, effective immediately.
