CALGARY _ Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau has attacked the federal government's energy and environmental policies in a speech to oil executives in Calgary.

Trudeau told the Calgary Petroleum Club that the Harper government has failed to come up with a national strategy on greenhouse gases.

He says it has made Alberta's oilsands the poster child for global warming.

Trudeau repeated his support for TransCanada Corp.’s (TSX: T.TRP, Stock Forum Keystone XL pipeline, saying it is in the national interest.

He says the Conservatives have failed to persuade the U.S. to approve it and Prime Minister Stephen Harper is more interested in making headlines than getting things done.

Trudeau says if Canada isn't able to convince the world that it is strong environmentally, it will lose market access for its natural resources.
