Bombardier (T.BBD.B) led group wins US$4.1B rail equipment contract for Queensland

(The Canadian Press) MONTREAL – A consortium led by Bombardier Transportation has won a US$4.1-billion contract from the State of Queensland in Australia.

The group will supply 75 electric passenger trains, a new depot and maintenance for 30 years.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX: T.BBD.B, Stock Forum) says its share of the New Generation Rollingstock project is worth about US$2.7 billion.

The project will renew a transportation system that serves southeastern Queensland, which includes the city of Brisbane.
