Graphite One (V.GPH) up 10.7% on new resource estimate: Canadian market movers

Here are the most active stocks on Monday mid-morning on the TSX and TSX Venture Exchange.

On Monday, the top TSX mover was Bombardier Inc. (TSX: T.BBD.B, Stock Forum). The stock was up 0.6% and was trading at $4.135 on volume of 11.4 million.

Today, the transportation equipment manufacturer announced that it delivered 238 aircraft during 2013, compared to 233 aircraft deliveries in the previous calendar year ended Dec. 31, 2012. The company also received orders for 388 aircraft, net of cancellations, compared to 481 orders, net of cancellations, for the previous year.

BlackBerry Ltd. (TSX: T.BB, Stock Forum) was the second most active stock on the TSX. It gained 8.3% and was trading at $10.81 on volume of 5.7 million shares.

The Smartphone maker has been moving up after a Citron Research note praised the company’s recent strategic direction and issued a $15 price target on January 17.

Excelsior Mining Corp. (TSX: V.MIN, Stock Forum) was the volume leader on the TSX Venture Exchange. It lost 9.1% and was trading at $0.50 on volume of 6.9 million.

On January 17, the junior miner soared over 300% after announcing the results of a comprehensive pre-feasibility study (PFS) on the North Star deposit of the Gunnison copper project, located in southern Arizona.

The second most active stock on the TSX Venture was Graphite One Resources Inc. (TSX: V.GPH, Stock Forum). It rose 10.7% and was trading at $0.155 after 3.1 million shares changed hands.

Today, the mineral explorer announced an increase of the existing inferred resource by 68% to 284.71 million tonnes of 4.5% graphitic carbon, and by 41% to 37.68 million tonnes of 9.2% graphitic carbon at cut-offs of 2.0% graphitic carbon and 7.0% graphitic carbon, respectively, at its Graphite Creek Deposit. The Graphite Creek Deposit is located on the Seward Peninsula of Alaska.
