ViXS Systems (TSX:VXS, Stock Forum), a Toronto-based provider of processing, managing, securing and video distribution technologies allowing multimedia control, conversion and connectivity between various digital and entertainment devices, announced today that the company had teamed with Intel on Headed Video / Networking Gateway products based on the Xcode 6400 media processing system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution for global service providers.

According to the news release, the company has in its possession, the only commercially available SoC with native support for High Efficiency Video Coding (“HEVC”) MAIN10 profile and Ultra HD 4Kp60.

It is expected that the Xcode 6400 product line of 10-bit HEVC SoC solutions when complimented with Intel's PUMA chipsets will bring unprecedented levels of performance at lower costs, taking advantage of the significant bandwidth of DOCSIS 3.0 while supplying the transcoding capability necessary for multi-screen premium content streaming.

The addition of the MoCA capability is anticipated to enable whole-home distribution of high-bandwidth services.

Company president and CEO, Sally Daub, commented, “ViXS is thrilled to partner with Intel to deliver market-leading platforms for the global content industry, driving the deployment of key technologies such as Ultra HD and 10-bit HEVC.”

She then concluded, “ViXS brings over a decade of innovation and leadership in media processing, and we look forward to seeing customers deploy this exciting new platform.”

ViXS Systems was in the news recently when the company was selected by NTT Plala to drive its new UltraHD 4K HEVC 60p “Hikari-TV” VOD trial in Japan.

Shares gained 6.67% on the news to $1.76 per share.

Currently there are 50.5m outstanding shares with a market cap of $89.9 million.
