ViXS Systems (TSX:VXS, Stock Forum), a Toronto-based provider of processing, managing, securing and distributing video and audio technologies allowing multimedia control, conversion and connectivity between various digital entertainment systems, announced today that the company had launched a Ultra High Definition (UHD) 4K Golden Reference Decoder tool to test, validate and debug 4K UHD content and deployment plans for the broadcast industry.
According to the news release, the UHD Gold Reference tool will allow content creators, service operator technologists, encoder manufacturers and HEVC promoters to decode and display files from storage or IP networks up to 4Kp60 HEVC 10-bit.
The tool will allow users to check stream compliance, encoder quality parameters and video output quality while providing comparison testing between 8 bit and 10 bit.
Company VP Sales, Infrastructure and Networking, John Pomeroy, commented, “At NAB last week there were more than ten different Tier-1 encoder and streaming technology companies demonstrating their new products with the ViXS UHD 4K decoder. The industry response to the ViXS XCode decoder has been enormous and validates our leadership position regarding advanced video processing capabilities.”
Then he concluded, “Our XCode 6400 product embodied in the UHD Golden Reference Decoder, uniquely enables operators, encoder manufacturers and others to test their networks using the same technology that will soon be deployed in their customer's homes.”
ViXS was in the news recently when the company filed a trade complaint against Entropic Communications.
