SUDBURY, Ont. - It's been another tragic day for the mining sector in northern Ontario.

Two contractors were killed Tuesday while working underground at First Nickel Inc.'s Lockerby Mine near Sudbury.

Ministry of Labour spokesman Bruce Skeaff confirmed the deaths and says at this point no information has been released on what happened.

All other workers have been accounted for and underground activities at the mine have been suspended.

The Ministry of Labour has investigators at the scene.

The incident happened just one month after a worker was killed at Vale's smelter in Copper Cliff on April 6.

First Nickel Inc. (TSX:T.FNI, Stock Forum) reported the incident in a news release Tuesday but had no details and could not be reached for comment.
