Graphene 3D Lab (TSX: V.GGG, Stock Forum) broke new ground in the world of 3D printing when the company announced that it would present and discuss the development of its printable graphene battery, a world's first.
According to the news release, the company would present the battery's development along with other advanced nanocomposite materials for 3D printing at the Inside 3D Printing Conference in Santa Clara, CA, today at 2:15 pm PST.
The company also recently submitted a provisional application for a patent to the US Patent and Trademark Office for recent innovations in the materials and methods of 3D printable batteries.
Among the the breakthroughs include the graphene-enhanced materials developed by the company that will allow the 3D printing process to be used to fabricate a functioning battery, incorporating its construction into the build process of the 3D printed object requiring it.
Company President and CEO, Dr. David Stolyarov, commented on the landmark achievement, “We look forward to presenting our recent progress in the development of functional 3D printable materials at this year's conference, with the highlight being our 3D printed battery. Our ability to create a 3D printable battery and other electrochemical devices will play a significant role in the growth of commercial applications of 3D printing technology.”
Graphene 3D Lab was in the news recently when the Calverton, NY-based company announced trading on the OTCQB at the beginning of October.
Shares climbed 7.18% on the news to $2.24 per share.
Currently there are 40.8m outstanding shares with a market cap of $91.5 million.
