TORONTO _ The Canadian dollar was slightly lower and U.S. index futures were negative ahead of the Toronto stock market's Wednesday trading session.
The loonie traded at 78.89 cents US, down 0.07 of a U.S. cent from the Tuesday close.
The S&P/TSX composite index closed Tuesday at 14,902.44, after rising 5.95 points.
On the commodity markets, the May crude contract was down 37 cents at US$47.23 a barrel and the June bullion contract was up 80 cents at US$1,184 an ounce ahead of the TSX open.
The Dow Jones industrial futures were down 48 points at 17,655, the Nasdaq futures were off 11.50 points at 4,318, and the S&P 500 futures declined seven points to 2,053.80.
