Canadian dollar remains relatively steady as oil makes a comeback

TORONTO _ The Canadian dollar was little-changed ahead of the open of trading at the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The loonie traded at 81.77 cents US, down 0.01 of a U.S. cent from Wednesday's close.

The Dow Jones industrial futures were down 47 points at 17,898.0, the Nasdaq futures fell 8.30 points to 4,437.0, and the S&P 500 futures declined 4.60 points to 2,095.6.

On the commodity markets, the June crude contract was up 25 cents at US$56.41 a barrel and the June gold contract rose 40 cents US$1,187.30 an ounce ahead of the TSX open.

The S&P/TSX composite index closed at 15,304.77, after dropping 41.67 points Wednesday
