Come for RAI$E stay for the STAMPEDE is the conference’s tagline. As the saying goes “work hard, play hard” and what better place to do it in Cowtown before the Stampede!

The conference will host presentations from private and small cap public companies that are currently raising capital, are planning to raise capital, or have recently raised capital and want market support. The two day agenda, Wednesday & Thursday before Friday’s Stampede Opening day, will host presentations in a variety of sectors including Technology, Mining & Metals, Biotech, Healthcare, Real Estate, Oil & Gas, Life Sciences, Products & Services, Cleantech and Energy.

We caught up with Conference Director Neil Lock to ask a few questions.

Q: How do you plan to “bring back the buzz” in Calgary
Building on the excitement leading up to the Stampede and the impressive number of Canadian Companies raising capital so far this year, we feel Investors have an appetite to attend a conference like RAI$E, a conference dedicated to showcasing companies raising capital. And of course, we’ll add some nightly entertainment and tie into the pre-stampede fun.

Q: Can you tell us a little more about the conference format?
“Industry Speakers – Company Presentations – One-to-One Meetings”: Two full days of presentations, the ability to host over 1,200 investor-company meetings and a handful of networking opportunities will engage both the investor and the company representative. Our goal is to give each investor the opportunity to fill up a solid two days listening to speakers, evaluating investment opportunities and engaging in discussions with other investors.

Q: Why Calgary?
The Stampede attracts 1.2m people a year and many corporate events leading up the Stampede. We plan to attract a percentage of the Stampede crowd and join the excitement leading up to the event. I’ve hosted a few conferences in Calgary, Edmonton & Saskatoon with all good results. AB is full of energy and optimism and I believe the sector diversification of our conference will be attractive to investors.

Q: What do you expect in #’s?
We can accommodate 400 investors at one given time over the two days, as some people will attend on day 1 or day 2 and come at different times, we will probably stop registrations at 600.

Q: What type of speakers?
Quite a variety really, we’ll have a mixture of analysts, newsletter writers, bloggers and executives on the stage delivering their view on all sorts of investment strategies, techniques etc. I’m really excited with the topics already planned! Here are a few:

“Sourcing capital to fund healthcare opportunities”
“Where to Invest in the Top Trends in Technology”
“Energy Opportunities in 2016”
"MicroCaps - Emotional Detachment Is Your Friend"
"Where Technology Meets Finance"
"Cleantech & Energy Tech Investment Trends and Opportunities"
“Canadian Growth Stocks”
"Public Capital - Challenges and Opportunities"
"Profit strategies: Fundamentals or Follow the Leader"
“An Investor Guide to Real Estate Crowdfunding”
“Top Picks – Oil, Technology & Mining”

Our goal is to have the speaker & company lineup complete by mid-June.

Q: What type of Companies are you looking for?
Solid growth companies looking to raise capital; I would prefer the companies to be early stage, but we welcome all stages. We only have a handful of opportunities in each sector.

Q: Why restrict to companies raising capital?
We believe investors need to have a focus/plan in attending events, by presenting companies that are raising capital, Investors will come prepared and ready to invest in deals.

Q: How do the 1x1 meetings work?
All investors will have the opportunity to use our online meeting tool to request a one-to-one with companies. Beginning Monday June 13, Investors will log-in to their account, filter through the company list and send meeting invitations. Companies will then accept the meeting. The one-to-one meeting room is open from 8am to 6pm Wednesday and Thursday; there are 31 meeting area’s available and each meeting slot will be limited to 30 minutes. If you do the calculation of 31 meeting areas x 20 meeting time slots x 2 days the result is 1,240 available meetings – it’s going to be a busy few days!

Q: Thank you Neil, anything else?
Thank you Stockhouse, yes – we’re in the window of accepting company applications now & registering investors, visit www.raiseconference.com to join us!
