Canada's Senate Passes Cannabis Bill

The Federal Government’s recreational cannabis bill has been given a pass in the Senate.

Bill C-45 The Cannabis Act passed in the upper house by a 56-to-30 vote. Now the vote goes back to the House of Commons and it will be up to the government to approve, modify or reject the changes before it rolls back to the Senate for another vote.

Vancouver-based Cannabis producer Choom Holdings Inc. (CSE: CHOO, OTCQB: CHOOF, Forum) was one of many businesses pleased with the news.

However, with this approval comes nearly four dozen amendments in the fine print that the government may not accept in full.

The biggest sticking point is still whether or not the provinces and territories should be allowed to prohibit home growing.

The bill is sponsored by Vancouver-Granville MP Jody Wilson-Raybould.

FULL DISCLOSURE: Choom Holdings Inc. is a paid client of Stockhouse Publishing.
