A multi-licensed, vertically-integrated cannabis Company just signed a deal that could prepare its operations for a new market with established retail standards, now that cannabis is recreationally legal in Canada.
Valens GroWorks Corp.(CSE: VGW, OTCQB: MYMSF, Forum) has signed a two-part, multi-year agreement with Tarukino Holdings, Inc. where VGW will have exclusive Canadian rights to game-changing emulsion technology known as SoRSE, which transforms cannabis oil and oil-based terpenes into water-soluble forms. This can then be used in any product ranging from beverages, edibles, topicals and more.
This is unique, as it allows cannabis-infused products to keep its potency when heated, chilled or frozen, but also removes that often pungent taste and smell. Perhaps most importantly, this could insure the homogeneity of product, not knowing the strength and onset times is now a thing of the past. When included into any beverage or liquid, SoRSE will disperse completely and evenly throughout, yielding a consistent product. This also helps to ensure that the industry has a safe and reliable means of ensuring edibles will provide a predictable experience, but leaving consumers feeling the effects of the cannabinoids sooner than oil products, within 15 to 30 minutes according to Tarukino experts, and have a much more defined start and finish.
This process also takes care of one persistent problem with infused edibles as well – separation that occurs over time. Turakino’s research team conducted a 180-day shelf-life experiment on beverages infused with SoRSE compared to all leading competitors’ products and found that SoRSE emulsions showed zero separation through the study. Valens’ noted they were unable to find another product on the market capable of this.
This also allows for a more diverse array of water-soluble products that can be manufactured.
Company CEO Tyler Robson added that this will enable Valens to develop its own brand of products while also making SoRSE available to the Canadian market.
“One of the many key benefits of utilizing SoRSE technology in edibles and infused beverages includes being able to dramatically decrease the time for onset and how long it lasts after consumption. This will improve the experience for our consumers and ultimately paves the path for how we believe cannabis will be consumed in the future.”
Research and development company Tarukino licenses its technology and brands to cutting-edge cannabis producers and processors such as Valens. SoRSE can be used for hemp-derived Cannabidiol (CBD) products as well. This tech begins with the encapsulation of cannabinoids with a lipophilic “fat-soluble” layer, bioavailable in the gastrointestinal tract and absorbed in the lymphatic system. Tarukino has more than 40 licensed branded products using SoRSE and selling in multiple states in the USA. In addition to Valens’ exclusive Canadian rights to the SoRSE emulsion technology, Valens also has exclusive Canadian distribution rights (or first right of refusal) for all of these Tarukino-branded products.
This news comes at a prime-time for Valens, which announced in earlier in October 2018 that it has been granted a license to cultivate and produce oil under the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR) from Health Canada. The Company received the license through it's wholly-owned subsidiary, Valens Agritech Ltd.
This, combined with the recent closing of its $27.3 million bought-deal prospectus financing paint a picture that depicts Valens as a Company able to strategically position itself to capitalize on every market available, both globally and domestically.
