Forbes magazine ranked Disney the 8th most valuable brand in the world in 2018, worth $47.6 billion (USD) generating $30.4 billion in revenue. One of the top household names of all time, the industry behemoth is looking for new avenues and technologies to introduce to the public, specifically virtual reality, which is a market expected to grow from $7.9 billion in 2018 to more than $44.7 billion in the next five years, according to Research and Markets. One company “The House of Mouse” is turning to for product development is Vancouver, B.C.-based YDX Innovation Corp. (TSX-V:YDX, OTC:YDRMF, Forum).
YDX has recently signed a deal to gain exclusive rights to bring its characters to life through its immersive virtual reality gaming platform – Arkave VR Arena. The first game will be co-created by Disney and Arkave and will bring its most iconic IP to Arkave VR - Mickey Mouse.
The Arkave VR Arena was created by YDX to be a premium, yet affordable virtual reality option for thousands of centres where families gather. The platform offers a free-roam multiplayer experience that is easy to operate and doesn’t require a VR backpack.

Under the deal, the Company will develop virtual reality experiences, interactive solutions and sports events for Walt Disney Company Brazil. Initially, the Arkave Arena featuring the Disney VR game will be taken to different cities in the country with potential venues including shopping malls, entertainment centres and movie theatres. Arkave VR’s head executive, Francisco Chaves added that there is potential to expand this relationship and bring the content featuring Mickey and friends worldwide.

YDX Innovation CEO Daniel Japiassu stated that, as the network of Arkave VR Arenas expands, it is crucial for the Company to develop new games with characters that are instantly recognizable and loved.

Disney Parks and Resort’s Senior Vice President, Global Customer Managed Relationships, Tom Boyles once spoke at the Hub Brand Experience Symposium, emphasizing his company’s focus on finding innovation in entertainment, specifically technology to maximize and enhance “the next generation guest experience.”
