Calgary-based
Westleaf Inc. (TSX.V:WL, OTCQB:WSLFF, Forum) celebrated 4/20 by opening two much-anticipated Prairie Records locations in Saskatoon, bringing the total to three cannabis stores operating in Saskatchewan. Prairie Records is a unique retail concept celebrating the connection between music and cannabis, with stores designed to mimic the look & feel of vintage record stores and cannabis offerings appearing on record sleeves containing strain-specific information and artwork. The opening celebrated the launch of the two stores in Saskatoon with links to music and the local community.
Westleaf’s two new Prairie Records stores are located at 720 Broadway Avenue and at 3020 Preston Avenue. The Broadway location is in the city’s densest commercial and entertainment districts, close to the University of Saskatchewan, the largest post-secondary institution in the province and one of the largest in Canada. The Preston Avenue store will serve the south side of the city in the thriving Stonebridge shopping area. The first Prairie Records location, located in Warman, Saskatchewan - a 15 minute drive north of Saskatoon -
opened in February.
Scott Hurd, Westleaf President and CEO, added, “Premium retail locations are the cornerstone of our vertically integrated strategy and which we believe uniquely differentiates Westleaf by providing access to wholly owned distribution channels. We have designed our
Prairie Records retail brand to be a superior retail experience and have focused on locations with high foot traffic in urban centres and resort destinations. The locations in Saskatoon reflect that thoughtful approach to retail.”
Prairie Records Stores Complemented by E-Commerce Site
Westleaf kicked off the month with the launch of its e-commerce site,
prairierecords.ca, providing Saskatchewan residents convenient access to Prairie Records’ entire product line, including 65 individual cannabis products and a wide variety of accessories and branded merchandise.
“The launch of online retail is an important next step in rolling out the
Prairie Records brand across Saskatchewan and the rest of Western Canada over the coming months,” said Hurd, “The province of Saskatchewan has proven to be a positive regulatory environment to launch our retail operations and we are pleased it is the first jurisdiction with a
Prairie Records online presence.” Products ordered through the site ship from Westleaf’s Warman location, with one day delivery to most of the province.
The rollout of Prairie Records is an exciting chapter in the evolving Westleaf story, one that suggests the company is delivering on its mission to become one of the key players in Canada’s retail cannabis market, and further bolsters its vertical integration strategy.
