Oil & gas companies started 2020 riding high as crude prices climbed above US $60/barrel. The rest of January, however, was less than kind.

As crude prices started to fall throughout the new year, recently inflated energy shares fell alongside them. Yet investment circles have continued to buzz about the resource sector well into the new year, even after the drop. After all, a viral epidemic and political turmoil are nothing compared to the long-term recovery experts are anticipating for the energy sector throughout the year.

The heightened investor interest has significantly increased traffic to energy companies on Stockhouse, as investors look for small-cap opportunities in the current market. A glance at the most active companies in the sector show that the drop in share prices was not universal, and some companies fared a lot better in a down market than others.

So which stocks have been the most active, and how have share prices performed? Below we give you a table of the most-viewed oil and gas companies on Stockhouse since the start of 2020, and the corresponding change in share price during the same period. While some haven’t fared well, their longer-term price charts show far different tales, so be sure to dive in.
