If you were to take a weekly snapshot of the cannabis sector’s performance so far in 2020, you would have close to eight different stories.

The overall momentum has been trending downwards, but each week has brought with it a new twist. Cannabis stocks have been sent flying up or down accordingly, as many are on bated breath anticipating the eventual recovery of the sector, including market experts, bullish investors, and company executives.

Looking at the past three weeks highlights this momentum. From Feb. 10-14, cannabis companies stabilized and then gained significantly to close out the week, then remained relatively stable from Feb. 18-21, before the coronavirus impact hit with full force and brought the sector back down from Feb. 21 onwards.

Though many of the long-term success factors for cannabis remain, and optimism remains ahead of constantly expanding markets (especially in the US), the current talk of the town is in operators sizing themselves appropriately for the market. For many, that means downsizing. For some, it means looking to consolidate. And for everyone, it means looking at all the players to see who will come out a winner when everything is said and done.

Investor interest in cannabis has remained especially high on Stockhouse. Below we give you a table of the most-viewed cannabis companies on Stockhouse since the start of 2020, and the corresponding change in share price during the same period. As always, the snapshot only gives us part of the story, so be sure to dive in and examine the bigger picture for each.
