It’s certainly been a “Golden Autumn” for a number of junior gold explorers of late, with many operators reporting high-grade finds from around the globe, including one boasting a very special land package situated in the prolific orogenic gold belt of northwestern Sonora, Mexico.

And this New Brunswick-based mineral resource exploration and development company has been on quite the recent gold run itself in this mining-friendly and prolifically-producing region. Stockhouse Editorial recently reported on a recent “eye-popping assay results” from Colibri Resource Corp’s (CBI) (TSX-V.CBI, OTC: CRUCF, Forum) 100% owned, 506 hectare Evelyn Gold Project, located within the historic Caborca Gold Belt in northwestern Sonora.

Results from the Cerro Rojo target area produced an astounding trench sample of 23.2 g/t Au. Additional trenches completed to the northwest of these samples returned values of 6.45 g/t and 1.99 g/t Au.

Now, CBI’s latest assay results have been reported from its third batch of trench samples at Evelyn, highlighted by the El Sahuaro target area. Colibri received an additional 95 assays from samples collected during the recently completed trenching program. And according to the Company CEO, the results demonstrate “very good potential” and “deserving of more focus going forward.”

El Sahuaro Target Area: High-Grade Sample Highlights

Trenching in the El Sahuaro target area was initiated to follow up on grab samples of 4.81 g/t Au and 4.18 g/t Au collected in 2019. Assays from the third batch of trench samples included values of 17.75 g/t Au and 6.93 g/t Au. The sample containing 17.75 g/t Au was from a trench located approximately 20 metres north of the previously released sample of 11.35 g/t Au. The sample which returned 6.93 g/t Au is located approximately 200 m south-southwest of the two high grade samples.

From the CEO

Ian McGavney, COO of Colibri, commented on the recent batch of assay results from the El Sahuaro Area at Evelyn:

Click to enlarge“The El Sahuaro Area at Evelyn is certainly deserving of more focus going forward. With results as high as 17.75 g/t Au in trenches over an apparent trend of 575 metres the area will be more closely explored in the near term. With the newly named “Central Area” also displaying very good potential, the Evelyn has shown that it has property wide prospectively just as the new samples map illustrates.”

In Closing

Focussed on five active gold projects that are located in producing and past producing areas of Sonora State, Mexico, Colibri Resource Corp’s portfolio of gold projects include the aforementioned Evelyn, along with Pilar, El Mezquite, Jackie, and Pitaya. Of note, CBI recently sold 50% of its Jackie project to form a joint venture with Silver Spruce Resources Inc. (TSX-V.SSE).

As per the last two batches of drill results at both the Cerro Rojo and El Sahuaro Target Areas, Colibri clearly has ‘all its ducks in a row’ and is optimistically looking forward to another productive drill season in 2021 at Evelyn.
