Business of sports: Paralympics, Vancouver Rise FC, NFL and Kelce bros

In the latest business of sports market update, we look at Toyota and Netflix’s involvement with the 2024 Paralympic Games, an NFL business headline recap including the new private equity investment opportunity and the Kelce brothers $100 million deal with Amazon’s Wondery for their “New Heights” podcast.

Travis Kelce is also winning hearts with his purchase ofan ownership stake in a racehorse named Swift Delivery, in a nod to girlfriend Taylor Swift.

The Paris Paralympic Games started this week and continue until Sept. 8.The Olympic Broadcast Services is expecting to surpass the 4.1 billion that tuned in for Tokyo and Rio Paralympics.

In Canada, CBC will continue its coverage, including a nightly Paralympic prime time show for the first time.

Toyota Motor (OTCPK:TOYOF) shares have seen an increase of nearly 100 percent in the past five years, so it’s worth noting the car company has been a worldwide Paralympic global partner since 2015.

Canadian Tire Corporation Ltd. (TSE: CTC.A) closed Friday at C$153.64 per share. From the start of the year, shares have climbed 7.48 per cent.

DoorDash Inc. (NDAQ:DASH) closed Friday at US$128.71 per share. In one year, its shares have surged 53.73 per cent.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (TSX:CM) closed Friday at C$78.76 per share. In one year, its shares have climbed 42.46 per cent.

Air Canada (TSX:AC) closed Friday at C$15.44 per share. In one year, its shares have dropped 33 per cent.
