Appliance Recycling Centers of America (ARCA) Contract with Southern California Edison Extended Through March 2015

MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Appliance Recycling Centers of America, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARCI) today announced that Southern California Edison (SCE) has selected the Company to continue to provide appliance recycling services for the utility's Refrigerator and Freezer Recycling Program through March 2015. ARCA has provided recycling services for SCE's program since 1994.

Through the program, participating SCE residential electric customers who turn in operating but energy inefficient refrigerators and freezers are eligible for a $35.00 rebate for each qualifying appliance. Customers may turn in two qualifying appliances per year. Older refrigerators and freezers can use twice as much electricity as newer models, costing SCE customers up to $180 extra on their energy bills every year.[1]

Edward R. (Jack) Cameron, ARCA's President and Chief Executive Officer, said: "Through SCE's Refrigerator and Freezer Recycling Program, more than one million energy inefficient refrigerators and freezers have been removed permanently from the grid since 1994. We have been proud to support SCE's long-term efforts to reduce energy consumption while preventing the release of ozone-depleting substances and greenhouse gases, and we look forward to continuing to serve SCE and its customers."

To participate in the program please call 1-800-234-9722 or visit www.SCE.com.
