final frontier with its Star Trek instant ticket. With the new Star Trek Into Darkness movie set to release in May, the fervor surrounding this movie is
gathering momentum.
Eight savvy lotteries in North America have already beamed on board to
launch a Star Trek ticket. For the 500 million fans that can't get enough of the Star Trek franchise, the release of this new ticket is yet another avenue to share
their enthusiasm for all things Trek.
Along with the design and production of the ticket, Pollard Banknote has
developed a full marketing and promotional program for lotteries to
access. The program includes: television and radio spots that can also
be posted on social media sites, as well as the Lottery's own website;
extensive merchandising opportunities; an interactive game; point of
sale material; promotion on Facebook, YouTube and on the Lottery's
website as well as an e-blast program. In addition, launches will be
supported by postings on the Star Trek social media sites along with Facebook geo-targeting. Combined, the
use of social media and geo-targeting expect to provide a substantial
boost to a lottery's launch by reaching out to Star Trek fans who reside in the participating lottery's jurisdiction. The Star Trek ticket is licensed by CBS Consumer Products.
Recently, the Texas Lottery announced that it will be launching its
ticket at a major kick-off event with special guest, actor William
Shatner (James T. Kirk) who will be present to scratch the "first"
ticket and sign autographs. The Star Trek-themed event will take place at the Dallas Convention Center and will
include a money booth, Star Trek related games and photo booth, live DJ, and as part of the celebration,
an attempt to break the existing Guinness World Record® for the largest
gathering of Star Trek-outfitted attendees in one place. The current record of 1,084
participants was set at 2012's Convention in London. The Texas Lottery
encourages everyone to come dressed as their favorite Star Trek character and help set a new record.
