NEW YORK, Jan. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- CoolNYC, a program developed by Con Edison and ThinkEco, has won two energy awards from The Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP).
CoolNYC won for Outstanding Achievement in Residential Program Design and Implementation, and Outstanding Achievement in Pricing and Demand Response.
CoolNYC is a demand response program for window air conditioners, which are one of summers' leading energy users in New York City. New Yorkers can monitor their window air conditioner energy use and control it in real-time from any browser or smart phone through the modlet smartAC technology (http://www.coolnycprogram.com/). The CoolNYC program is a cost-effective way to encourage customers to use energy wisely while achieving significant electricity savings.
"Con Edison wants to help our customers save energy and money, and the CoolNYC program is a unique way to introduce a program that is easy to use," said Adrianne Ortizo, program manager for Con Edison.
"By partnering with third-parties on programs like CoolNYC, utilities benefit from a new way to engage their customers," said Mei Shibata, Chief Strategy Officer at ThinkEco, Inc. "Our philosophy is that customer value is derived only in part by new technologies, so our approach is to offer top-notch marketing and service capabilities that complement the technology and help our utility partners strengthen what they are already doing."
For utility customers, ThinkEco provides a fully serviced demand-response and energy-efficiency offering that includes the modlet technology platform for any plug-load (including room air conditioners) or central air conditioning thermostat.
AESP, a 23 year old trade group, is a member-based association dedicated to improving the delivery and implementation of energy efficiency, energy management and distributed renewable resources.
