Bell honoured to be named to Montréal's Top Employers for 2013

Awarded for career opportunity, professional development, parental benefits

MONTREAL, Feb. 6, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Bell is proud to be recognized as one of Montréal's top employers for 2013 in the annual awards organized by Mediacorp Canada.

"We pride ourselves on providing an outstanding workplace for Bell team members, including the many benefits, training and career opportunities we offer," said Bernard le Duc, Executive Vice President, Corporate Services for Bell and BCE. "The job opportunities we create are as varied as any company in the country, including retail engineering, customer service, finance, information technology and marketing. Because technology evolves so quickly in our industry, new opportunities continue to emerge, creating a dynamic and challenging work environment for Bell team members."

Editors cited a variety of reasons for recognizing Bell among the top employers in the city:

  • Bell's investment in ongoing training and professional development, including support for professional accreditation and training courses
  • A leading parental support program that provides top-up payments to new mothers, fathers and adoptive parents
  • A wide range of career possibilities at Bell locations across Canada
  • A share purchase plan that enables all team members to share in the company's success
  • A head office environment where employees have access to a variety of amenities including an employee lounge, cafeteria with healthy menus, and state-of-the-art fitness facility with subsidized membership.

"As a Montréal-based company since our founding almost 133 years ago, Bell is very proud to be named one of Montréal`s top employers for 2013," said Martine Turcotte, Bell's Vice Chair, Québec. "Bell is Québec's largest communications company, and we have played a vital role in the economic and social prosperity of Québec - investing billions in networks, research, culture, sport and hospitals, led by the Bell Let's Talk Mental Health Initiative. This award is also a much-appreciated recognition of the Bell team's contributions here in Montréal and across Québec."

With more than 17,000 team members in Québec and another 13,000 retirees, Bell also works to reflect its employees' values and interests in its community investments. That includes more than $20 million in sponsorships every year and substantial investments in research facilities such as Montréal's Douglas-Bell Brain Bank through the Bell Let's Talk mental health initiative.

About Montréal's Top Employers
Now entering its 8th year, Montréal's Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers, a Mediacorp Canada publication. This special designation recognizes the Montréal-area employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. Employers are evaluated on 8 key areas: physical workplace; work atmosphere & social; health, financial & family benefits; vacation & time off; employee communications; performance management; training & skills development; community involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.

Bell Let's Talk Day is February 12
The Bell Let's Talk Mental Health Initiative is a national charitable program promoting Canadian mental health through 4 action pillars: anti-stigma, care and access, research, and workplace best practices. On Bell Let's Talk Day this February 12, for every text message sent and every long distance call made by Bell and Bell Aliant customers on February 12, every tweet using #BellLetsTalk, and every Facebook share of our Bell Let's Talk message, Bell will donate 5 cents more to programs dedicated to mental health (regular long distance and text charges apply). Last year's Bell Let's Talk Day raised $3,926,014.20 in additional funding for mental health initiatives across the country.
