TranSwitch’s HDplay Transceiver Selected by Kramer Electronics for Several Video Products
TranSwitch
Corporation (NASDAQ: TXCC),
a leading provider of semiconductor solutions in the rapidly growing
consumer electronics and telecommunications markets, today announced
that the Company’s HDplay™ TXC-44146 transceiver has been designed into
several Kramer
Electronics video products, including video switches and
distribution amplifiers. Production of Kramer Electronics’ first new
video product featuring HDplay is expected to commence by the end of the
first quarter 2013.
Kramer Electronics is a global leader in the design and manufacture of
high-performance video solutions for corporate, education,
transportation, hospitality, entertainment, retail, and institutional
markets. Video switches enable users to easily connect multiple source
devices, and distribution amplifiers allow users to transmit multimedia
content over long distances. TranSwitch’s HDplay transceivers provide
Kramer Electronics with a single-IC solution that minimizes design
complexity and speeds time-to-market for new switch and amplifier
products that feature both HDMI® and DisplayPort™ connectivity.
HDMI and DisplayPort devices continue to gain prevalence in the market,
driving manufacturers of connectivity devices, such as video switches
and amplifiers, to adopt both standards. According to a report by InStat,
the combined total number of devices shipped with HDMI, DisplayPort, or
DVI connectivity is forecasted to surpass 2 billion in 2015.
“Kramer Electronics has a tradition of delivering video switches and
amplifiers that provide exceptional performance and reliability,” said
Ehud Ardel, vice president of research and development at Kramer
Electronics. “Working closely with TranSwitch, we are introducing new
products that enable our customers to take advantage of robust twisted
pair technology for long-distance video connections, while easily being
able to connect HDMI and DisplayPort devices.”
“TranSwitch has made tremendous strides with our HDplay product family
by combining HDMI and DisplayPort capabilities in a single-IC solution,
reducing space requirements, overall design cost, and time-to-market,”
said Tim Blanke, vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at
TranSwitch. “Kramer Electronics’ new switch and amplifier products merge
this connectivity advantage with its proven design and manufacturing
prowess to provide customers with reliable, high-definition video
solutions. We are extremely pleased to be a part of the Kramer
Electronics success story and look forward to continued close
collaboration in the design of future platforms that tap into device
connectivity trends.”
TranSwitch’s HDplay transceivers are the industry’s only solution that
offers both HDMI and DisplayPort functionality on a single integrated
circuit. With HDplay powering a video switch or distribution amplifier,
end-users are able to conveniently connect a wide range of multimedia
devices. HDplay also utilizes TranSwitch’s patented AnyCable™
technology, enabling the user to confidently select long and inexpensive
cables, while maintaining HDMI 1.4 performance.
