Over-The-Counter Handheld HeartCheck PEN Device to be Available for Sale at Canada's Largest Fishing & Boat Show of the Year
Toronto, Canada - CardioComm Solutions, Inc. ( TSX-V:EKG) ("CardioComm Solutions" or the "Company"), a global medical provider of ECG acquisition and management software solutions is pleased to announce they will be participating in this year's Spring Fishing and Boat Show, the largest of its kind in Canada, with over 200 exhibitors and thousands of hard core outdoor enthusiasts in attendance.
"This will be an excellent venue for CardioComm Solutions to showcase and sell our HeartCheck PEN," noted Etienne Grima, CardioComm's CEO. "The ability to record a heart rhythm reading and ECG while in remote areas such as a on a boat, camping, or hiking , away from any emergency medical support is exactly the type of scenario where the HeartCheck PEN will be most useful. Arrhythmias and cardiac events happen unexpectedly, many are non lethal but are, nonetheless, serious warning signs that need attention. With people away sometimes for days, with the influence of temperature and exercise, being able to monitor yourself during an outdoor getaway is just as important as when you are at the office or home," Grima added.
The Company is encouraging the slogan "Get at grip on heart disease and stroke", highlighting the easy handheld operation of the HeartCheck PEN. "Taking and saving recordings when you feel symptoms, regardless of where you are, is an important feature of the PEN," said Dr. Anatoly Langer, Chairman of the Company Board of Directors. "As a physician, seeing a person's ECG recording, taken at the time a person was feeling symptoms, is an important and critically useful tool in making the diagnosis and could lead to faster access to appropriate next step medical interventions and therapies. This is especially true for Atrial Fibrillation detection and the prevention of stroke."
The HeartCheck ECG PEN was first cleared for sale in the United States by the FDA as the HeartCheck PEN Handheld ECG with GEMS Home. Subsequently, it received Health Canada approval providing CardioComm Solutions with the ability to market the HeartCheck brand of handheld ECG devices across North America. GEMS Home, the free downloadable software designed by the Company to provide a personal heart rhythm/ECG health record on a person's home computer, also provides connectivity between the HeartCheck PEN readings and CardioComm Solutions' ECG coordinating centre known as C4.
Use of The HeartCheck ECG PEN will be demonstrated at the show and consumers can then purchase the device at the CardioComm booth. A number of the devices will also be awarded as contest prizes by the conference organizers throughout the four (4) day event.
Visit us at the Spring Fishing & Boat Show, February 15-18, 2013 at the International Centre - Halls 5, 4 and 3. The CardioComm exhibitor will be located in Hall 5 at booth #1321
