Sallie Mae Donates $25,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation

Sallie Mae, the nation’s No. 1 financial services company specializing in education, today announced it will donate $25,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to support breast health education. The donation was made possible by thousands of customers with Sallie Mae-serviced student loans.

The company recently partnered with the NBCF to encourage customers to enroll in its free direct e-notification paperless service. Sallie Mae donated $1 to the nonprofit for every customer who enrolled in the service. It took just one month for Sallie Mae to reach its $25,000 donation goal.

“We are proud to partner with Sallie Mae, a company that turns education dreams into reality,” says NBCF Founder & CEO Janelle Hail. “Their support will help NBCF save lives by educating women about the importance of detecting breast cancer early.”

Sallie Mae’s direct e-notification paperless service enables customers to receive all their account correspondence via email, rather than traditional paper documents sent through the mail. It is a fast, free and secure way for customers to receive information about their student loans. It is also makes it even easier to save important information.

“This campaign increased the number of customers enrolled in the service, providing them all the convenience and benefits it offers, while contributing to a worthy cause,” said Mike Maier, senior vice president, Sallie Mae. “It was a great way to support the work of the National Breast Cancer Foundation to provide breast cancer educational programs and early detection services to women.”

Currently, approximately 50 percent of customers with Sallie Mae-serviced loans nationwide have chosen the e-notification option. Eligible customers who also enroll in the automatic debit program and make scheduled monthly payments while in school may receive a 0.25 percentage point interest rate reduction. Go to SallieMae.com to log in and access the “My Account” link for more information and to sign up for the service.
