International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (NYSE: IFF), a leading global
creator of flavors and fragrances for consumer products, today announced
the formal opening of one of its largest and most technically advanced
flavors manufacturing facilities. Located in the Guangzhou Economic and
Technological Development District and built to the highest global
standards for food ingredients, the factory will supply flavors to the
Company’s regional and global food and beverage customers. The facility
is part of a previously announced US$100 million investment in Greater
Asia and a key part of IFF’s strategy to grow in emerging markets.
The approximately 19,000m2 site comprises sales and
administration offices, laboratories, factory buildings, and support
services and will manufacture all product types currently made by the
Company in China, as well as spray dry. Its projected annual capacity is
approximately three times that of the existing manufacturing site. In
keeping with IFF’s commitment to reduce its impact on the environment,
all structures on the site and all manufacturing processes were designed
to comply with the Company's sustainability standards, with an emphasis
on energy efficiency, low water consumption and minimal waste.

The formal opening was attended by leading local dignitaries as well as
Mr. Tough, Mr. Vaisman, IFF’s Board of Directors and members of its
senior management team. Over the next months, the plant will undergo
rigorous testing and production trials to help ensure all its products
meet the highest global standards. The Company anticipates commercial
production to begin in Q3 2013.
